What a first day! There is a reason why the festival Board and staff dedicated the first day to the Lunenburg community. This town loves local arts and culture. Screening after screening drew great audience numbers, including the sold out Being Still with The Bookstore that Never Sleeps.

A big welcome to 195 Bluenose Academy students this morning

Exposure to the arts at a young age is vital and documentaries as an art form is one of the best outlet for expression. With this in mind, we are so excited to host Bluenose Academy students at the Opera House today. They were passionate about seeing short films and we have selected a 72 MIN feast.

• Long-time Doc Fest fans should note the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic is this year’s location for the Sunset Gala Reception.

• The Main Gaff is opening its doors to film fans and the community one additional night. There is a capacity cap and they’ll try to get everyone in.

• Pass holders, don’t forget our advice to reserve your seats for the screenings your really want to see.
