People of Lunenburg, homeowners, landlords and renters, we need you!
During Lunenburg Doc Fest, one of our greatest challenges is to find a place for all our visitors to stay. And we want them to have a great experience.
Lunenburg Doc Fest is looking for a place to house travelling artists for the upcoming 2025 festival, September 17-21. Every year, artists from across Canada and around the world come to Lunenburg to present their films. For the 12th year, Lunenburg plays host to a mix of established professionals and emerging new talent. We have hosted artists whose films have gone on to be finalists for the Academy Awards. The filmmakers come to enjoy everything Lunenburg and the area has to offer. If you, or someone you know, has a space available OR are leaving town for that week – we’d love for you to consider becoming a Billeting Partner!
What does a billet space look like?
Private or semi-private apartments are highly desired (self contained space, separate entrance, etc.)
A private bedroom in a Billeting Partner’s home with access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living space.
Walking distance to the theatre, but further locations with parking spaces are welcome.
Must have internet.
Must have basic furnishings.
Who will I be inviting into my home? What is expected of me?
Directors, producers or possibly subjects of films that we invite to screen at our festival. These are artists who will be busy with the festival for most of their time with you, and are simply looking for a clean, safe, and cozy place to call home while they are in town. They may need some room in the fridge and maybe even a pot and pan to cook with, but they are not expecting for you to take care of them. We expect our artists to treat your home like it was their own: with respect.
What will I get for being a Billeting Partner?
Ideally we are looking for Billeting Partners who could allow artists to stay free in exchange for passes to the festival and their names listed in the sponsorship pre-roll before all films and on our website. We can discuss other affordable options for our artists if free is not possible but you still want to be a host.
In exchange, LDF can offer:
Two complimentary tickets to any screening
Potentially two full passes
Invitation to our 'Meet the Artists' gatherings during the festival
Branded merchandise
Support through the billeting process, such as arranging keys if you are out of town
By welcoming our artists into your homes, you make it possible for us to host more artists who return home as ambassadors for Lunenburg and our festival.
