Kudos for Lunenburg Doc Fest
Amazing films, wonderful industry opportunities and a great deal of learning! Lunenburg Doc Fest is a long waited-for celebration of the documentary filmmaking in the Atlantic Canada. Looking forward to attending the festival in 2017". - Olesya Shyvikova, documentary filmmaker (2016)
What a great event! I couldn't think of a more perfect place to watch incredible documentaries while connecting with others in the industry. Lunenburg is the perfect backdrop for this one of a kind doc film festival. Thank you!
-- Eryn Foster, Filmmaker (2016)
Thank you so much for involving me in the Seniors' Video Workshops. They were so beautifully organized and the participants were inspiring. It was such a treat to simply waltz in and be able to concentrate on sharing knowledge while location, refreshments and logistics had been so perfectly looked after. The video quality certainly exceeded my expectations and the idea of showing them in the Doc Fest was really empowering to the seniors. I am also pleased to say that I think we have created some "monsters" with this group - people so inspired with the first videos they did that they are now hooked and looking to create more. What a great legacy.
-- Dawn Harwood-Jones, Seniors Program Mentor (2016)
Doc Fest 2015 was a smashing success and this event has created yet another reason for people to fall in love with Lunenburg. The creative energy was palatable here on the weekend. The program completely lived up to its billing of offering thought-provoking entertainment and something for everyone found in film subjects from around the globe including two premiere screenings and opportunities for interaction with filmmakers and producers. It was thoroughly enjoyable and I can hardly wait for next year!
-- Rachel Bailey, Mayor, Town of Lunenburg (2015)
From the organizers to the sold-out audiences, the Lunenburg Doc Festival has been an exceptional experience of extraordinary people, remarkable stories, and a town with a heart as big as the sea that pulses with art, culture, and heritage. All this under a blood red moon! I am so honoured.
-- Shandi Mitchell, author, filmmaker. Recipient of the Short Film Award and Atlantic Filmmaker Award (2015)
The Lunenburg Documentary Festival is a world-class event that brings moving and ground-breaking documentaries to surprisingly large and enthusiastic audiences in a charming Nova Scotian seaport which also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site loaded with history and natural beauty.
-- Chuck Lapp, Chair of Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) Atlantic (2015)
I feel very honoured to have been awarded with the Lunenburg Doc Fest bursary this year, and to have had the opportunity to experience so many inspirational documentaries this weekend. I am very appreciative of the support that this festival provides to young filmmakers through their youth program and bursary, and I thank them again for their aid in pursuing a future in film. I am so grateful for the support the bursary provides, and I have really enjoyed the festival!
